Average dating before engaged
According to a survey by Bridebook.uk, the average couple will date for 4.9 years before making things official.
In the South and West regions, data is split fairly evenly amongst the three categories, while in the Northeast over half of the respondents dated for over three years before getting engaged.
One in five people (20%) say that couples should generally date for 12-18 months before getting engaged.
Another 15% say they should date for 18-24 months, while another 15% think two to three years of dating is ideal.
For the age group of 26 to 30 years old, the majority across all regions dated their partners for over three years before the question was popped.
In fact, over half of the Northeast respondents and 60% of the West respondents dated for more than three years before getting engaged.
